Week 44 Day 1
it is such a challenge to try to get along with everybody
and then we don't get along with everyone anyway
there are so many different ways
of seeing things
of interpreting messages
of responding to situations
we think people should see things our way
as though there were only one way
or one angle of
light and direction
movement and color
and how can we deal with the feeling
that we are right
and others are wrong
how can there be diversity and still be unity
how can we work together and still
each other's uniqueness
God calls us to be saints together
not carbon copies of each other
we are part of the whole
and not the whole
others have insights we have not known
others have thought deeply about things
we have only touched in passing
in our calling to be saints together
we are not lacking in any spiritual gift
we are enriched
we are sustained
Agree in spirit even when you can not agree in detail.
I Corinthians 1, 2 & 3
1Paul, and Sosthenes our brother, 2to the church at Corinth:
3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ.
4 I thank my God always for the grace which was given to
you by Christ Jesus, 5that you were enriched in everything by
Him, 7so that you come short in no gift, as you wait for our
Lord Jesus Christ, 8who will confirm you to the end.
10Now I plead with you, by the name of Jesus, that you all
speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among
you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind.
1 It has been declared to me that there are contentions among
you. 12That each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of
Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ."
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were
you baptized in the name of Paul?
18The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are
perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
26Not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not
many noble, are called. 27But God has chosen the foolish things
of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the
weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are
mighty. 30You are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom
and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
13These things we speak, not words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches. 14The natural man does not receive the things of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1And I could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for you were not able to receive it. Where there are strife and divisions, are you not behaving like mere men?
5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers
through whom you believed? 6 I planted, Apollos watered,
but God gave the increase. 7Neither he who plants is anything,
nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. 8Now
he who plants and he who waters are one.
9For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field,
you are God's building. 10According to the grace given to
me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and
another builds on it. 16Do you not know that you are the
temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
