Week 46 Day 6
good examples are an important part of our lives
it is significant to have those people
to whom we look up
to whom we turn for advice
to whom we look for inspiration
we look back with nostalgia to earlier times
when it seems there were more examples
persons who had heroic qualities
people who set a standard of
but today we look around
and it appears that many would-be heroes
flaunt their arrogance
promote destructive practices
are not what they appear to be
when looking for a hero we need to be very careful
the word of the apostle Paul is simple and clear
be imitators of the Lord
walk in the love of Jesus
who gave up his life
so that we may live
CONTROLLED BY LOVE
Outwardly in speech and actions;
inwardly in thoughts and desires.
Ephesians 5 & 6
1Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2Walk
in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us.
3But sexual immorality and all uncleanness or covetousness,
let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;
4neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which
are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.
8You were once darkness, but now you are light in the
Lord. Walk as children of light 9(for the fruit of the Spirit is in
all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10finding out what is
acceptable to the Lord. 11Have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, but rather expose them; 12it is shameful
even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
13But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light.
14Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, arise from the
dead, and Christ will give you light."
15See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as
wise, 16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17Do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord
is. 18Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but
be filled with the Spirit, 19speaking to one another in psalms
and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in
your heart to the Lord, 20giving thanks always for all things to
God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand
against the wiles of the devil.
12We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness
of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly
places. 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you
may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
14Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having
put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15and having shod your
feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16above all,
taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench
all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17Take the helmet of
salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
18praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. This Bible passage was condensed from the NKJV
