Week 30   Day 2

most of us have not heard the Lord speak

in terms as clear and dramatic as the prophets

who often appear as

yet the Lord calls us to be servants too

and he promises and reassures us

that we are chosen

that we are recipients of his spirit

that we are his light in the land

and we are to deal with things like

but how can we deal with such lofty subjects

as righteousness and justice

they are so world encompassing

they are the stuff of which

            the gifted

            the powerful

            the talented

                        debate about

                        deliberate over

                        decide upon

at times we find ourselves anxious

about what we are doing this afternoon

and wonder why with all our activities

we can still feel so empty

maybe we need to ponder the Lord's claim on our lives

and ask

or what are we serving

                                   GOD KNOWS MY NAME
    Because of God's love and mercy, the best is yet to be.
                                            Isaiah 42 & 43

     1"Behold!  My Servant in whom My soul delights!

I will put My Spirit upon Him, to bring forth justice to the Gentiles.

2He will not cry out, nor raise His voice in the street.

3A bruised reed he will not break,

And smoking flax He will not quench;

He will bring forth justice for truth.  4He will not fail,

Till He has established justice in the earth."

     5Thus says God, who created the heavens and stretched them out,

Who gives breath and spirit to those who walk on it:

6"I have called You in righteousness, and will hold Your hand;

I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people,

As a light to the Gentiles, 7to open blind eyes,

To bring out prisoners from the prison,

8 I am the Lord, that is My name; and My glory

I will not give to another, nor My praise to carved images.

9Former things have come to pass, and new things I declare;

Before they spring forth I tell you of them."

     1But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,

And He who formed you, O Israel;

"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;

I have called you by your name; you are Mine.

2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;

And rivers shall not overflow you.

When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,

Nor shall the flame scorch you.

     18"Do not remember nor consider the things of old,

19Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

20The beast of the field will honor Me,

The jackals and the ostriches,

Because I give waters in the wilderness and rivers in the desert,

To give drink to My people, My chosen,

21This people I have formed for Myself shall declare My praise.

     22"But you have not called upon Me, O Jacob.

You have not honored Me with your sacrifices.

24You have burdened Me with your sins,

You have wearied Me with your iniquities.

25 I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions

And I will not remember your sins.
