Week 51   Day 4

Abide in God

            in God's love

How do we do that?

It starts with a desire on our part to do so

and if we don't have that desire

then it begins with a prayer that

God will give us the desire to abide in him

From there we must take steps that move us in God's direction

            sometimes it requires that we

            turn from something else

and set our face toward God

John Wesley listed some things that help

he called them "means of grace"

            means whereby we put ourselves

            in a position

to receive what God wants to give us

They include such actions as

                        public worship

                        prayer - corporate and private

                        Bible reading and study

                        christian fellowship

                        the Lord's supper

                        service to others

That should do for starters.

                                     ETERNAL LIFE

                              It is promised to those

who love, obey and have fellowship with God.

                                        I  John 4 & 5

13By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us,

because He has given us of His Spirit.  14We have seen
testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the
15Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God,
God abides
in him, and he in God.  God is love, and he who
abides in love
abides in God, and God in him.

17Love is perfected in this:  that we may have boldness
the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this
18There is no fear in love; perfect love casts out fear,
because fear involves torment.  He who fears has not been
perfect in love.
19We love Him because He first loved us.
  20 If someone
says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he
is a liar; for he
who does not love his brother whom he has seen,
how can he
love God whom he has not seen?  21H
e who loves God must
love his brother

1Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God.

2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we

love God and keep His commandments, 3which are not a

burden.  4For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.

This is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith.

5Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes

that Jesus is the Son of God?

    6This is He who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ;

not only by water, but by water and blood.  It is the Spirit

who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.  7There are

three that bear witness in heaven; the Father, the Word, and

the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.  8There are three
bear witness on earth:  the Spirit, the water, and the
and these three agree as one.

9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is

greater. 10He who does not believe God has made Him a
because he has not believed the testimony that God has
of His Son.  11This is the testimony:  God has given us
life, and this life is in His Son.  12He who has the Son
has life;
he who does not have the Son does not have life.

13These things I have written, that you may know that you

have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the

name of the Son of God.
