Week 16 Day 5
David was a good man, not a perfect man
He experienced many victories
and also many tragedies
Through it all David recognized that God was with him
leading him in the way that he should go
David lived in an awareness of God's presence
and believed God strengthened him
making him able for every task
God was his rock and his salvation
from birth to death
and David loved to sing God's praises.

Reflections on God's steadfast goodness and grace.
II Samuel 22 & 23
1Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on
the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all
his enemies. 2And he said:
"The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
3The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation.
My stronghold and my refuge;
My Savior, You save me from violence.
4 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.
5"The waves of death surrounded me.
6The snares of death confronted me.
7 In my distress I called upon the Lord;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry entered His ears.
29"You are my lamp, O Lord;
The Lord shall enlighten my darkness.
20By You I can run against a troop,
By my God I can leap over a wall.
31The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
32"Who is God, except the Lord?
Who is a rock, except our God?
God is my strength and power.
34He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.
36You have given me the shield of Your salvation;
Your gentleness has made me great.
37You enlarged my path under me; so my feet did not slip.
40You have armed me with strength for the battle.
47"The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock!
Let God be exalted.
The Rock of my salvation!
50Therefore I will give thanks to You, O Lord,
And sing praises to Your name."
